Hi Susan, thanks for taking the time to share some insights with us. Can you tell our audience a bit about you and your work?
As the Chaos Eradicating Officer (CEO) of Beyond the Chaos, my team and I help small business owners extricate themselves from their day-to-day business operations so they can grow their businesses and get their lives back. Our team has served over 100 small businesses. With 30+ years of operations/project management experience in professional service industries, I am on a mission to improve American society exponentially.
When not making multi-course dinners, I enjoy Texas A&M football games and Blackhawks hockey. I live and work from her home in McKinney, Texas, with my husband and our dog, Shelby.
What’s something you recommend we read?
Who Not How by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy. This book changed my mindset and my approach to thinking about accomplishing things. I have started thinking about who can make things happen for me instead of how I am going to execute it. Empowering others empowers me.
What’s something you recommend we try, and why?
Calendar blocking. It is the single best method to accomplish more personally and professionally with substantially less chaos.
Tell us about something new you’ve learned lately that really stuck with you.
I heard Dr. Benjamin Hardy speak at the Business Transitions Summit. He was talking about how 10X is easier than 2X. All the business owners in the room responded, "Really, because we've all been able to 2X... most of us haven't 10X'd." Then, he went through examples to open our minds. When you 2X, you do more of the same thing you've always done. When you 10X, you have to get creative, break things, go after new markets, and change your marketing and processes. I found the concepts incredibly mind-opening to the possibilities that help you level up. It was so worthwhile to have attended that keynote! My perspective on goals has changed forever.
